Appointments, insurance and payment

  1. Are you accepting new patients?

Yes! Centre dentaire Champfleury is happy to welcome new patients. Whether for an examination, a cleaning, an emergency or dental treatment, our team will be glad to support you and meet your needs. You can call us to book an appointment with one of our receptionists, or book online, whichever you prefer.

  2. If I come in for an emergency, can my tooth be treated the same day?

During an emergency visit, the dentist first performs an examination and, when necessary, an X-ray to assess the situation and determine the cause of your pain or dental problem. Only the dentist can confirm, after this assessment, whether treatment can be done the same day. When the situation allows it, treatment can be carried out that day. Some situations first require further examinations, a temporary treatment or a procedure in several stages. Our priority is to relieve your pain, stabilize the situation and offer you the most appropriate treatment to preserve your oral health.

  3. Does my insurance cover my dental care?

Coverage varies with each insurance plan and the terms of your contract. It is therefore important to check which services are covered, the reimbursement percentages, and your annual limits and maximums. When possible, our team can submit a predetermination request to your insurance company to obtain an estimate of coverage for certain treatments. A predetermination does not guarantee reimbursement, however: your dental insurance is a contract between you and your insurer. The clinic does not have access to every term of your contract and cannot guarantee the amount you will be reimbursed. Our team can support you through the process, but it remains your responsibility to contact your insurer to confirm your coverage and any amounts that may remain your responsibility.

    How claims are submitted
  4. Do you send my claims directly to my insurance and receive the payment for me?

Yes. When the service allows it, the Centre dentaire Champfleury team can submit your claim directly to your insurance company. On the day of treatment, fees are paid at the clinic. The reimbursement is then paid directly to the patient by their insurance company, according to the terms of their plan. If you are registered for direct deposit with your insurer, the reimbursement can often be received within about 48 business hours, depending on the insurance company.

    What your insurance covers
  5. Which payment methods do you accept?

Centre dentaire Champfleury accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Interac. The treatment plan and the estimate for each treatment are provided free of charge, so you know what to expect before you begin. Also keep medical-expense tax credits in mind: the savings can be significant, and a financial advisor can help you plan the credit amount and the timing of your care.

  6. Is my dental care free under the CDCP?

Not necessarily. The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) does not automatically cover 100% of the fees. Coverage varies with the treatment, the fees recognized by the plan and the applicable eligibility criteria. An amount may therefore remain your responsibility, even for a treatment covered by the CDCP. If you have a file open at the clinic, our team can tell you the expected fees for your treatment and, when possible, help you understand your coverage. We also recommend checking the details of your plan to know which amounts may remain your responsibility. Being covered by the CDCP does not necessarily mean your dental care will be free of charge.

  7. Why does my first complete examination take about an hour and a half?

At Centre dentaire Champfleury, the first complete examination takes longer than a routine examination so the dentist can assess your oral health in depth. During this first visit, we take several dental X-rays, including a panoramic (Panorex), bitewings and periapical X-rays, to get a complete view of your oral health. We also take intraoral and profile photographs to complete your file and follow your progress properly. The dentist performs a thorough examination of your teeth, gums and surrounding structures, while taking the time to discuss your needs and answer your questions. This hour and a half allows a complete evaluation and a care plan suited to your needs.

  8. Do I need X-rays?

X-rays are not needed at every appointment. Whether they are needed, and how often, depends on your situation, your dental history and the dentist’s assessment. X-rays reveal certain conditions that cannot be seen during a clinical examination, such as cavities between teeth, infections or changes in the bone. During an emergency visit, an X-ray is strongly recommended so the dentist can properly assess the situation and determine the appropriate treatment. The dentist will determine whether X-rays are needed to complete your examination and offer you the care best suited to your needs.

  9. Why do I need a dental examination if I only want a cleaning?

A cleaning removes plaque and tartar to keep your teeth and gums healthy. However, a cleaning does not replace the dentist’s examination. The examination checks your oral health and detects problems that can progress without pain or symptoms. A dental examination is recommended once a year to follow your oral health and quickly detect any change.

  10. Which dental care does the RAMQ cover for my child?

The RAMQ covers certain dental care depending on the patient’s age, situation and treatment. The recall examination is covered once a year for children under 10. Cleaning is not covered by the RAMQ. For fillings, amalgam is covered on molars and composite on front teeth; composite on certain premolars may be covered under certain conditions. Sealants are not covered by the RAMQ. Private dental insurance may cover certain treatments the RAMQ does not. The Centre dentaire Champfleury team can submit a predetermination to your insurer to check the expected coverage.

Invisalign uses clear, removable aligners without wires or brackets. Fixed braces remain attached to the teeth. These approaches do not necessarily suit the same situations: an examination helps determine whether Invisalign is appropriate for you.

  8. How does in-office whitening differ from a home kit?

In-office whitening is supervised, uses a stronger product and protects the gums; a home kit works more slowly, over several days. At Centre dentaire Champfleury, an examination comes first: the condition of your teeth and gums determines what suits you.
